PROJECT DIRECTOR’S INTRODUCTION
Dr. Md. Shah Kamal Khan joined as the Project Director for the World Bank-funded project named "Agro-Meteorological Information Systems Development Project (AMISDP)" under the Ministry of Agriculture on August 12, 2020, which has been being implemented countrywide through Department of Agricultural Extension (DAE). He was born on 2 November 1969 in Khaduli village of Dhunat upazila in Bogura district to a Muslim aristocratic family. Father Md. Nayeb Ali Khan was an Engineer and mother Md. Shahida Khatun was a housewife. Since childhood, he has left a mark of extraordinary talent and creativity. At every stage of his educational life, he got first division/class and got the honor of being first class first in M.S in Agronomy. He was successful and acclaimed for his research on “Genetic Mapping of Rice” in his PhD. His PhD thesis and publications have been highly appreciated in many countries of the world including Europe and America. He started his career as a "Scientific Officer" at the Bangladesh Rice Research Institute (BRRI), later worked as an Assistant Director at the Bangladesh Agricultural Development Corporation (BADC) and eventually joined in the 20th BCS (Agriculture) cadre. He had expressed his brilliance and competency during working as a "Horticultural Expert/Advisor" in the Safe Food Project funded by the European Union (EU) implemented by the SNV Netherlands Development Organisation on Lien/Foreign Service as well as he was recognized by achieving “Special Award”. He had previously served on Lien / Foreign Service as the "Regional Technical Coordinator (RTC)" as DANIDA Representative to the Danish International Development Organization's (DANIDA)-IFMC project. He had a reputation for working as a "Senior Monitoring and Evaluation Officer" for the Citrus Development Project in the Department of Agricultural Extension, Khamarbari, Dhaka under the Ministry of Agriculture and as a "Deputy Director" at the National Agricultural Training Academy (NATA), Gazipur. He has received National Science and Technology (NST) Fellowship, DANIDA Fellowship, Netherlands Fellowship Program (NFP) and Prime Minister (PM) Fellowships in Education and Professional Career. During his tenure, he traveled to Denmark, Sweden, the Netherlands, Thailand, Dubai, India and Pakistan for higher education, training and workshops with the government permission. He is currently the President of the 20th BCS (Agriculture) Association; Life member of Krishibid Institution Bangladesh (KIB), Bangabandhu Krishibid Parishad (BKP), Bangladesh Society of Agronomy (BSA) and Bangladesh Kabita Sangsad (BKS); member of BCS (Agriculture) Association, 20th BCS Forum (All Cadres), South Asian Forum on Agriculture Meteorology South Asian Climate Outlook Forum (SASCOF), Climate Services User Forum for Agriculture and Water (CSUF) and South Asian Forum on Agriculture Meteorology (SAFOAM). He has also been involved in various social and professional organizations and has been contributing to socio-economic development.
Beside his professional career Dr. Md. Shah Kamal Khan has come in to focus as a poet, short story writer and novelist. He has special neck on literature since childhood. He has free possession in various fields of literature. Poems, short stories, novels, articles, etc. His writings have been published in directories/magazines published by schools, colleges, university and the Bangladesh Public Administration Training Center (BPATC) as well as he has been highly praised by educated society. His writings have also been published in various newspapers and magazines. In the midst of his professional busyness, he cherished literature in his heart. In his writings on various incidents of social life, corruption, irregularities, inequality, injustice, social injustice, etc., there is a strong protest and moral. Description of events in simple sentences and the tasteful word structure really deserves praise. His published novels "Tobu Monay Rekho (Still Remember)" and his collection of short stories "Tumi Robay Nirobay" have been widely appreciated by the readers.
This extraordinary talented person has been working for the development of agriculture and farmer since his initiation of his career devotedly by taking the agriculture profession warm heartedly. Being Project Director he requests to all for cordial cooperation, valuable suggestion, prayer and inspiration for the sake of amazing contribution in the agricultural development of the country through successful implementation of the project.
